Purpose of Assignment
The argumentative essay incorporates the skills of premise and conclusion, learned in Week 1, and builds upon them. The new critical thinking skills introduced in the essay are inductive and deductive reasoning. For the chosen position on government health care, the student will demonstrate understanding of inductive and deductive reasoning by providing an explanation of how each reasoning type was used in the writing process.

The student identifies why or why not government-run health care is good for the consumer.
For the chosen position, the student provides an example of deductive reasoning and an example of inductive reasoning.
The chosen position is argued in a logical and convincing way.
The student includes identification of premises and conclusions.
The paper is no more than 750 words in length.
The paper—including tables and graphs, headings, title page, and reference page—is consistent with APA formatting guidelines and meets course-level requirements.
Intellectual property is recognized with in-text citations and a reference page.
Paragraph and sentence transitions are present, logical, and maintain the flow throughout the paper.
Sentences are complete, clear, and concise.
Rules of grammar and usage are followed, including spelling and punctuation.
